Select Parts

To select parts and subassemblies, do one or more of the following in the viewing area or in the Assembly panel .

Desktop

Select a part

Click a part. The part is highlighted in the viewing area and in the Assembly panel.

Click the part name. The selected part is highlighted in the Assembly panel and also in the viewing area (if the part is visible).
Select multiple parts

Press the Control key (Command on Mac) as you click parts.

  • Non-adjacent parts: Press the Control key (Command on Mac) as you click parts or subassemblies.
  • Adjacent parts: Click the first part, press Shift, and click the last part.
Select an assembly

Click a part repeatedly. After the first click, each subsequent click selects the parent subassembly.

Click the assembly name.
Click a part repeatedly. After the first click, each subsequent click selects the parent subassembly.
Deselect a part or subassembly

Click the background of the viewing area.

Press the Control key (Command on Mac) as you click parts or subassemblies.
Select the entire model

Click a part repeatedly. Each successive click selects the next parent subassembly until the entire assembly is selected.

Click the first entry in the assembly.

Deselect a part or subassembly

Tap the background of the viewing area.

Tap a part repeatedly. Each successive tap selects the next parent subassembly until the entire assembly is selected.
