Interacting with Your Model

Desktop

You can examine different areas of your model by moving the camera viewpoint. In addition to the options that you see in the toolbar at the bottom of the viewing area, there are a few shortcuts that you can use. You can use the left mouse button or the middle mouse button to drag when using Rotate, Pan, Zoom, or rotating about the Z-axis. Take a minute or two to play with these options, and be sure to try out some of the shortcuts.

Action Result Shortcut
Rotate Rotate Rotates the camera view in three directions. The default is the center of your cursor. You can change this setting on the Settings panel. Alt + drag (Mac: Option + drag)
Pan Pan Moves the camera view along a plane. Right-click+drag
Control + drag (Mac: Command + drag)
Zoom Zoom

Zooms in or out on your camera view. Zoom is based on the location of your cursor.

Fit All Fit All

Centers all visible parts of the model in the viewing area.

Fit Selected Fit Selected

Centers selected visible parts of the model in the viewing area.

Shift + F
Set Look At point and zoom Centers the part that you click to the center of the viewing area and zooms in on it. The center of the part becomes the center of rotation. Alt + click (Mac: Option + click)
Rotate about a single axis Rotates the camera view in two dimensions. Horizontal axis:
Alt + Shift + Up/Down arrows (Mac: Option + Shift + Up/Down arrows)
Vertical axis:
Alt + Shift + Left/Right arrows (Mac: Option + Shift + Left/Right)
Perpendicular axis:
Alt + Shift + drag (Mac: Option + Shift + drag)

    Mobile

    Take a minute or two to examine different areas of your model by moving the camera viewpoint.

    1. Use the following gestures to move your model:
      Action Gesture Description
      Rotate drag to rotate

      Using one finger, drag about the screen to rotate the camera view in three directions around the Look At point. The default is the center of the model’s geometry. You can set a new Look At point at any time.

      Pan

      drag to pan

      Using two fingers, drag about the screen to move the camera view along a plane.

      Zoom

      pinch to zoom

      Pinch to zoom in or out on the camera view. Zoom is based on the location of your fingers.

      Set Look At point

      double tap

      Using one finger, double-tap to center the point of the model that you tap to the center of the viewing area while maintaining the current camera zoom state. This point becomes the center of rotation.

    2. To center all selected parts of the model on the screen, tap Fit Selected Fit Selected.
    3. To center all visible parts of the model on the screen, tap Fit All Fit All.
